Sponsored by the National Center for Women and Information Technology

HumanityHacks is a two-day hackathon for high school girls focused on applying tech to the humanities and social issues. This two-day hackathon is centered around the humanities. Participants will enter certain categories: Music, Literature, Art, Social Activism, Economics, and Culture. There will be prizes for each of these topical categories, encouraging our hackers to develop products that truly harness the potential of computer science applied to humanities and social sciences. Participants with no coding experience are welcome!  We are hosting 40+ girls in the Bay Area on August 18-19, 2018.

SheSTEMs Summer Camp - June 18th-29th, 2018

Sponsored by the National Center for Women and Information Technology

She STEMs is a 2-week summer camp run by high school students to inspire young girls to grow their technical abilities and self-confidence through a hands-on introduction to hardware programming. Our aim is to inspire young girls to create solutions to real-world problems in their communities and to prepare them for 21st-century careers. Throughout the camp, girls will not only gain exposure to the opportunities technology has, but they will also be able to meet with inspirational female trailblazers at top technology companies and join a sisterhood of girls ready to take on the world. PixelHacks II - January 27-28, 2018

The Bay Area's First All Female Hackathon is Back
Sponsored by the National Center for Women and Information Technology

PixelHacks, the Bay Area’s first student-run, all-female high school hackathon, was founded on a mission to bridge the gender gap in the technology field and encourage all high school girls to be exposed to computer science. As a student-run hackathon, we aim to persuade everyone, including programming beginners, that anyone is able to code. At PixelHacks I in 2017, nearly 75 high school girls attended the 26-hour overnight hackathon, and with the help of sponsors, the event was entirely free for all students. Teens Transforming Technology is thrilled to partner with PixelHacks to host PixelHacks II so that together, we can reach an even larger audience of high school women.

AppUp - September 9th, 16th & 23rd, 2017

Hosted by Georgetown University and Sponsored by the National Center for Women and Information Technology

AppUp is an exciting and hands-on computer science program, funded by an AspireIT grant from the National Center from Women and Information Technology, to help expose young girls in Washington, D.C. to the computer science field, programming, coding a mobile application, and developing a network of like-minded girls who are excited and motivated to code. Girls will learn and develop the intuition and skills for the fundamental aspects of mobile application coding. Girls will learn and familiarize themselves with Java, Scratch, Android Studio, XCode, JSON, and SQLite, while inputting their creativity in these programs. The girls will build a demo application that is related to sustainability by the end of the program.
