Our Vision
Technology is fundamentally embedded in our world—in every industry and corner of the globe, technology and data are redefining the essential questions of our lives. We believe that a strong foundation in computer science is crucial for success in our world today, and that education involves computer science and algorithmic thinking, paired with critical thinking and ethical inquiry skills needed to evaluate the role and implications of technology in our world. With our holistic approach to computer science education, we strive to diversify our community so that students from every community and underrepresented backgrounds can join us in disrupting our world for the better.
Join us in making computer science education accessible to every student in our nation's capital and beyond.
Join us in making computer science education accessible to every student in our nation's capital and beyond.
A note from our founder:
Dear Teens Transforming Technology community,
All of us at Teens Transforming Technology stand in firm solidarity with the Black community. We mourn the deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, Tony McDad, and every Black life taken by police brutality and racism in this country. We know that racism exists in the tech industry, both in the workplace and in the creation of technologies that are used to perpetuate oppression. We call upon all of you to advocate for intersectional racial equity throughout the industry.
As an organization, our focus is expanding access to computer science education for K-12 students. We understand that equity in access to a holistic tech education, one that is rooted in both technical skills and ethical inquiry, is a matter of educational and economic opportunity and justice, We know that when our students do better, their families and their communities around them also do better. Technology can be a powerful tool of liberation, but that can only be accomplished if we are committed to creating a tech ecosystem that truly represents our communities.
As an organization, we are here to listen and continue learning about how we can commit ourselves to anti-racist work in our industry. We will continue the work of intentionally reaching out to students who haven’t had a chance to explore computer science. We are expanding our program offerings and community-based partnerships to provide a robust computer science education for all of our students. These are just first steps, and we are committed to working with all of our stakeholders to forge a path forward.
