September 9th, 16th, and 23rd
Hosted by Georgetown University and Sponsored by the National Center for Women and Information Technology
AppUp is an exciting and hands-on computer science program, funded by an AspireIT grant from the National Center from Women and Information Technology, to help expose young girls in Washington, D.C. to the computer science field, programming, coding a mobile application, and developing a network of like-minded girls who are excited and motivated to code. Girls will learn and develop the intuition and skills for the fundamental aspects of mobile application coding. Girls will learn and familiarize themselves with Java, Scratch, Android Studio, XCode, JSON, and SQLite, while inputting their creativity in these programs. The girls will build a demo application that is related to sustainability by the end of the program.
